Status: LIVE (scaling stage)
Current Status: Ongoing
Project Stage(s): Concept
Live Trial Location(s): Onstreet
(What are the Project Stages?)
(Why are trials removed?)
CHALLENGE:
In many locations we have narrow pavements which make it difficult to provide on-pavement seating.
PROPOSITION:
Should we adopt the concept of parklets from the U.S.? Would they be a useful solution for the public? Businesses can apply to put tables and chairs on the pavement...could they apply to use car parking spaces in a similar way?
DESCRIPTION:
A trial parklet was placed onstreet.
OUTCOMES:
This trial cost Dublin City Council under €6,000.
(€370 for iteration 1, €4,700 for iteration 2, €300 for iteration 3 and €300 for iteration 4.)

This is a great idea, monitored usage of the parklets could be used by DCC to determine locations for more permanent parks and public furniture.
